About

It was back in March of 2019, just as never before heard of virus was beginning to make it’s mark on the world, that Mark Duston, a stroke of genius during one of their hot tub session, mentioned to Kevin Bauman that they should put their profound discussions online in the form of a podcast.

Living in Whitefish, Montana with nothing to do and nowhere to go, it seemed like an excellent time to start something new.

After splashing around a few ideas Mark and Kevin finally settled on the concept behind Help Is Not On The Way. The idea spoke to both of them not only because of its cool title, but also because it would challenge each to dig deeper into the types of stories and materials they already were consuming every day. Additionally the format where each brings a story to the table to tell the other, along with the audience, would serve to widen their own intake of human experiences even further.

Mark and Kevin soon realized that although they loved the studious researching and recording of HINOTW they were missing out on another of their interests: free form talking. Both love the recitation of interesting stories, but the format has its limitations, and they weren’t tapping into their other many passions: music, art, film, and the knowledge bases each has acquired over the course of their lives, as people interested in just about everything.

With that, their next podcast titled Are We Recording? was born, which follows more closely Mark and Kevin’s day to day conversations. Discussions that can meander from a guy who built a Lamborghini in his basement to the social ramifications of political gerrymandering.

The unbridled free form approach has allowed Mark and Kevin to widen our scope of material and still be challenged. It also gave purpose to their constant absorption of all the content they consume on a daily basis. If it’s interesting information, it’s fodder for conversation.

Little did they know way back in March 2019 how much of an impact the world was about to experience by Covid-19. Similarly they have no idea how far our little media project will go. Kevin, and especially Mark, certainly hope it goes farther than anyone expects, and in stark contrast to the pandemic, brings something better to the world.

Thank you for listening, reading, writing, recording, and creating. The more you do, the more the two have to enjoy, and discuss.
